Areas of practice

Ingo Wegerich has many years of experience in capital markets and banking supervisory law. He advises banks, financial services institutions and businesses extensively on matters pertaining to capital markets law and related banking supervisory issues.

Among other things, he specialises in providing legal and regulatory advice to banks and financial services institutions regarding financial instruments of any kind, including drafting the legal documentation or issuance programmes for securitised securities, and also advises businesses comprehensively on financing via the capital market.

With regard to the many changes in law at the European level, Ingo Wegerich advises market participants on the implementation of the respective legal instruments (ESG, MiFID/German Securities Trading Act, PRIIPs, Prospectus Regulation and Market Abuse Regulation).

Ingo Wegerich studied law at the University of Hamburg (Germany) and also successfully completed a course called “Supplementary Studies in Business Law” there. From 2002 to 2013, he worked for various renowned law firms in the field of capital markets law. Ingo Wegerich joined Luther as a partner in 2013.

Ingo Wegerich has given numerous lectures on capital markets and regulatory law topics in Germany and abroad and has published a large number of articles in financial newspapers and specialist journals.

He is President of the Association of Capital-Market-Oriented Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises e.V. (“Interessenverband Kapitalmarkt KMU”). The Association, founded at his initiative in 2017 and committed to improving the relevant framework conditions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in capital market financing, has repeatedly been able to influence the legislative process in the interest of capital-market-oriented SMEs.
