Bernhard Burkert advises on all aspects of public building law, as well as on matters related to environmental law. He has many years of experience advising on planning and approval law issues in connection with urban development and renewable energy projects. His practice also includes advising on all relevant ancillary areas, such as matters related to monument protection, road, environmental or nature conservation law. In addition, Bernhard Burkert regularly assists with real estate and renewable energy transactions in the context of public-law due diligence reviews.
Bernhard Burkert was admitted to the German Bar in 2012 and joined Luther the same year. He holds a Master of Laws degree (LL.M. International Trade Law) from Stellenbosch University in South Africa. Bernhard Burkert is a member of Luther’s practice group “Environment & Planning Law, Regulatory”. Since 2018, he has additionally been a visiting lecturer at the Berlin School of Economics and Law, where he lectures on public building law with a special emphasis on building regulations as part of the dual study programme “Business Administration/Real Estate Management”. He regularly publishes papers on current building and planning law issues and is a permanent member of the editorial staff and author of the “EnK-Aktuell” news service of the German publishing house Beck.
