Luther appoints Dr David von Saucken as new head of its London office

Dr David von Saucken has over 20 years of experience as a lawyer and is also admitted as an English Solicitor (England & Wales). He began his career at a major multidisciplinary law firms in Berlin and the City of London. He has also worked for other large law firms in London.

Dr von Saucken specializes in matters of debt and equity financing as well as distressed situations involving companies, shareholders, or lenders. He has an industry focus on German property acquisitions and finance.

In his new position at Luther, Dr von Saucken will contribute his international expertise and further help to position the firm in London as a key provider of cross-border solutions – including towards clients and firms in the US. He will also work closely with the unyer network, as well as the Luxembourg and Asian offices of Luther, to identify relevant developments in important markets worldwide at an early stage.

Luther's London office currently has five employees, including three lawyers. Ulf Bertheau, the former head of Luther London office, will leave the firm at the end of the year to join the English insurance broker David Roberts & Partner as Head of European Development and there drive further expansion through the acquisition of brokerage firms.

Dr David von Saucken's Curriculum Vitae:

Dr David von Saucken began his legal career at Haarmann Hemmelrath's Berlin office, a large multidisciplinary law firm. In 2000, he moved to the firm's London office, where he worked as a partner from June 2002 to December 2005.

From 2006, Dr David von Saucken worked as an equity partner for Ashurst, where he worked with his team at the Frankfurt and London offices within the "Restructuring and Special Situations Group."

From 2011, he worked as an equity partner for Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP at the London office within the Finance/Restructuring Group. At the end of 2017, he returned to Germany and, together with partners – including tax consultants – founded a multidisciplinary practice in Berlin.
